Throwback to one of my first multi-day hikes. It reminds me of a period of endless learning and intrigue. Learning of gear and all the nuances it entails, learning of hiking skills and techniques, learning of the plants I brush by and the animals that watch me curiously.

Intrigue for the new land I wander and it’s history, intrigue for the flora and fauna that was so unfamiliar to me, intrigue for the complex ways of the living world that I was only slowly beginning to grasp, intrigue for how wild spaces made me feel, intrigue for the freedom such experiences instil.
In many ways, I still approach my life outside with this mindset. Much of the sentiment here still remains true today. There are always things to study and be enamoured by no matter how much time you spend in nature.
Pictured is my trusty ol’ Klymit Motion 60 backpack, I have put about 2,000km on this thing and it’s still going strong.
